Died after a little more than 2 years

This microwave came with the house we purchased in August 2019. The tag shows a manufacture date of July 2017. A few days ago (Nov 2019), it kept giving us the 'Door Open/Close' error. We opened and closed the door several times, and it would not work. We tried again about 15 minutes later, and it worked fine. The next day, the microwave is completely dead as if there is no power going to it. We checked the outlet which is working fine. The display is dead. Nothing at all works on it. I think it is reasonable to expect a microwave to last longer than 2-1/3 years.

**MADE IN CHINA** Only thing you need to know.

I bought a "Maytag" thinking, 'Since it's owned by Whirlpool it will be made in the USA'. Wrong! I guess when Whirlpool sent the design specs to China, they forgot to specify the QUALITY GRADING (failure rate) of the electronics used on the Motherboard. Been replaced 3 times on ours in the 1st year. 2nd time replaced with the wrong motherboard and fried the exhaust fan and lighting circuits. Now, every so often when the microwave starts cooking, the lights in the whole house dim & flicker and the microwave gets REALLY LOUD and starts POPPING sounds. Now the cook-top light is stuck ON and they are offering a pro-rated buyback since it's out of warranty (which is more than they had to do). The problem is they want to "upgrade" us to the MMV4206FZ, which is basically the same model with WORSE reviews than ours. How about a manufacturer buyback or replace it with one made in the USA?

Same door problems everyone else is posting about

We purchased this microwave along with a range July 2017. Now we are having the same issue with the door everyone else is posting about here. When trying to warm something it says to close the door and press start. Um......the door is already closed and nothing changes when I open and close it again. When I open the door the light does not go on and nothing changes when I close the door. Now the light won't go off!! I have always chosen Maytag appliances, believing they are great products, but now I am beginning to wonder. I agree with another post here - it will probably be cheaper to buy a new microwave than to have this one repaired. But, the question is, do I go with another Maytag??

Loved it at first, but then come the problems. In under 2 years, we have had to replace the light 2 times and it already is out again. The latch is already giving us problems, saying Open and close door, press start. Then starts the fun of opening, closing and pressing start until if finally starts. This is happening more and ore frequently. And of course, the filter fell apart the second time we removed it for cleaning.

My husband and I purchased this microwave, along with all the other matching appliances for the kitchen, in February of 2017. Around eight months into using it, we kept getting a message regarding the door needing to be opened/closed in order for it to start. We had to do that several times before it actually worked. This happens several times a week. It happened Monday night (10/29/18) and then went completely dead. When calling on Tuesday (10/30/18) for a service call, I spoke to someone and she took the information but could not schedule an appointment for service because their system was down. She said to call back in an hour. I called back three times after that and was on hold for over ten minutes each time and no one helped me. My husband then called when he got home from work and they gave us a service appointment for next Tuesday (a whole week without a microwave with a baby). Now we are told that because we do not have an extended service plan, the parts will be covered but the service fee ($105) and the labor fee (will be determined after looking at the product) plus tax is not covered. So in other words, I should go out and a get new microwave for cheaper than what I will probably pay in service fees and labor fees. Maytag states that these products last for years. However, this product has only lasted a little over one year and now I'm being charged, more than its worth, to get it fixed. When it is time to purchase new appliances, I will not be looking at Maytag as the best and will choose a different product.

I bought this just over one year ago. This microwave started acting up before it was 6 months old, open/close door error. Very frustrating to have to continue to open and close door repeatedly. This week it went from bad to worse! Now the microwave does not have any power to display and has officially died. I called the installer to question the warranty (or lack there of) Maytag will only cover the magnetron and the cavity and labor is not included. I was told it would be an initial $100 for service to look at it, but that parts and labor could easily add up to the cost of a new microwave. ($300 plus) Wish I had taken the time to read the reviews. My last microwave was over 20 years old with no issues whatsoever. Forgot to mention I was never rewarded with the rebate that was promised which ultimately led to choosing maytag for all of my appliances.

We purchased this microwave about a year ago, and are generally not pleased with it. We've had problems with it since shortly after we purchased it. A recurring problem is that when we try to use it, it fails to start and shows a message to "Open / Close Door". Sometimes the problem finally resolves itself and it will start to work, but at other times we just have to give up and find another way to heat things.

Our microwave has had to be repaired twice now with the 1 year manufacturer warranty. The first issue was an open /close door error that wouldn't allow the microwave to turn on (read about it, its a common problem with maytag microwaves which apparently they haven't figured out how to fix yet). The second issue has been that the microwave will turn on but the screen will not work, so you can not tell how long your food is cooking for, it's just a guess. Maytag did offer to extend our warranty which is good I guess since something is going to break every few weeks on our less than year old $350 microwave.

So quiet!

We have had this microwave for a few weeks now. It is so quiet! It's sleek and easy to clean. The beeping noise is a little obnoxious, as it is more of an electronic tone than a typical beep. Also, some of the auto cook features are iffy. My husband put a baked potato in, and it came out black. He thought he ruined my plate. LOL. Our Maytag dishwasher did the trick, though!

We purchased this microwave just over a year ago. About 3 weeks ago it started acting up and would state we needed to open and close the door before it would work. We would hit cancel and open and close the door and then it would work. Last week we tried it and it blew the circuit and now it does not work any longer. Can not even get it to turn on at all. The circuit is fine as we have tried other appliances in the outlet. We bought this with 3 other appliances to have everything match and thought it would last longer than a year. We have had other brands last over 15 years. Not sure I would purchase again. Need to have repair come out and see if we can get it fixed.

Door sensor, vibrating turntable, unit failure

To sum up, Door sensor error, turntable problems, circuit board failure. Less than 8 months use. We bought this microwave in May of 2017 for our new house. Ended up getting it installed sometime in July once the cabinets were finished. Sometime around September we began hearing strange noises and noticed the turntable was struggling sometimes. It would vibrate a little and that was the noise. It did not do it all the time. In early March of 2018 we experienced our first door sensor error. It says to open and close door to begin operation. It continued to work for a week. This past week the error appeared and we could not get it to work. While opening and closing the door the unit shorted out and blew the , breaker and now will no longer even power on. Unacceptable failures for the price and expected life. Also, the display is orange... orange. Like 1970s orange. It makes the unit look cheap. Does not match in modern kitchens.

We purchased this Maytag Microwave about a month ago. The installers were the best we have ever had. We absolutely love the Microwave. It is nice and large, we just took out the rack. It cooks everything fast. The other Microwave we had lasted only 2 years (top of the line) Samsung. The Maytag Microwave is far superior.

Have had for about a month and so far so good. I like the looks and interior. I don't care for the song like buzzer when an item is done. Song is loud and long. The microwave is much quieter than our old GE which died at 9 years. Also, I wish this one had the one touch start that GE had if yu press 1 it starts ooking one minute, 2 for two, etc... this does have a quick start 30 second that you can press repeatedly for adding more 30 seconds each press.
